Video Assessment
I have assessed three music videos, by GCSE students, I have given them all a level that I think they would get. I have given the first music video a level 3, this is because they have used good shot transistions and used a good variety of shots. I also think that they have used good costume and mise en scene to fit in with their chosen genre. To improve their music video, I think that they need to improve their lighting on certain scenes and maybe add a few more different locations.
For the second music video, I have given them a level 3, this is because they have used good editing and filmed in several good locations. I think that they could improve their grade by changing the lighting in certain shots and smoother cuts.
For the third music video, I have give them a level 2/3, this is because they havent used very steady shots (some shots are shaky) They are also a few mistakes, for example there are people that are not meant to be in the shot and they are not in sync. I think that they could improve this by being more carefull when they film and editing better.

Reflective Writing

i have done a number of things in my research. I have researched other music videos. I have researched representations of rap and r&b videos. By researching this i can see what i need to aim for, so that our video fits into the representation. I have also researched the codes and conventions of an album cover of r&b a website, advertisment poster and a r&b and also a rap music video by doing this it has been useful so i know what i need to aim for. i have looked at audience theory, i do need to go back and link audience theory to my own work. i have also reseached audiences so that i know what audience i am trying to aim for in my project of a music video. i do think that looking at other music videos is really helping me in linking certain critiria into our music video.

The video is filmed in black and white. There are scenes of them preforming and then scenes where they are acting for the story line. The story line is about Beyonce acting as her boyfriend is acting towards her. The video has editing cuts between the two of them acting and preforming. The video opens with Beyonce stood with a white background be hind her saying a few words that relate to love, we know from this that she will be singing a love song. The first couple of seconds she is doing this the other actor that is in the video is also saying a few words. There are a number of straight cuts between them. The video then goes on the show us the story line of the video. The video also has a twist in the story line as she is acting out what her boyfriend actually is doing to her. they video is very moving and the black and white film also adds to this feeling too. Beyonce in this video is represented to be very strong at the begginning of the video by the way she is acting towards her boyfriend. She seems to be the one in control. Until the end when the roles are switched.
